In Jacksonville, Florida, over 200,000 residents struggle with food insecurity—a staggering number that highlights the urgent need for community support. Across Florida, nearly 2.8 million residents are food insecure, with significant impacts on health, especially among low-income families​ (Map the Meal Gap).
This underscores the widespread nature of this issue.
Our Food Pantry is a vital resource for those facing hunger in Jacksonville. Each week, we distribute groceries to families and individuals who might otherwise go without.
The impact is significant: in a city where 1 in 5 children are at risk of going hungry, our efforts are making a tangible difference. Last year alone, our food giveaway served more than 1000 families in need, ensuring that no one in our community has to face the pain of hunger alone.
Jacksonville’s prison population reflects a broader trend seen across Florida, with an incarceration rate of 795 per 100,000 people (this reflects the population in prisons, jails, immigration detention, and juvenile justice facilities). That means it locks up a higher percentage of its people than any democratic country.
Many of these individuals come from backgrounds of poverty, addiction, and trauma, often finding themselves without a support system in prison and upon release.
Our Prison Ministry seeks to fill this void by providing spiritual guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance.
We bring hope to incarcerated individuals through spiritual counseling to help inmates find purpose and meaning in their lives.
According to the Florida Department of Health, Division of Public Health Statistics and Performance Management, more than 50% of public school students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. Youth with mental health disorders often struggle in different areas of their lives, including at home, at school, and in their communities. Among students in special education, those with emotional disorders tend to have the lowest graduation rates and the highest dropout rates compared to other types of disabilities. The Preventing Long term Anger and Aggression in Youths (PLAAY) Program is another cornerstone of our outreach. Designed to empower young people through education, mentorship, and community involvement, PLAAY addresses the challenges youths face today.
