About Our Organization

History

The congregation went in prayer for a leader and the congregation’s prayers were answered, and September 1992, Elder Lee Harris was sent by God to shepherd his sheep. Elder Lee Harris is the current pastor of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church. Our illustrious pastor is indeed a model for principles, respect, integrity, determination and excellence. At the core of his being has been family, church, community and relationships, especially the poor and down-trodden, those incarcerated and the sick. It is not uncommon to see him walking the community that he literally changed to share his love and words of cheer and comfort. He has been the recipient of numerous awards for the many good things that he has done. Currently, he has Elder Edward Dawkins, Elder Wayne Wright and Minister Wilbur Cason assisting him in his endeavors in the ministry. The church has seen many new programs to minister to the needs of the ever-changing community. Since it’s humble beginning, the church has seen programs like: Matron Auxiliary Children’s Church Couples Ministry Christian Education and Scholarship Funds Health Care Ministry Men’s Fellowship Ministry Women’s Fellowship Ministry Scouting Ministry Many new and worthwhile committees have also been established Benevolent and Social Outreach Programs, Calendar and Publicity Finance Committee Stewardship and New Members Evangelism and Outreach In 136 years, Mt. Olive has seen its share of good and bad. It has survived more that most because at the core of its existing is God. Gods’ word, Gods’ people and Gods’ will be done. So, as we reflect on Mt. Olive’s history, it is important to note; it has been through the grace of God that it has come this far. It is a blazing example of the power of faith and how true followers of Jesus Christ are led to do the work of the master; “for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me”. Matthew 25:35-36. So we look back on the history here as training, and strength for the struggles to come, learn this lesson well and be better for it. God will not forsake those whom he loves and those whom he loves will have life and have it more abundantly. The church has truly lived out its motto – “The Church in the heart of the city with the people of the city within its heart.” Many new and worthwhile committees have also been established Benevolent and Social Outreach Programs, Calendar and Publicity Finance Committee Stewardship and New Members Evangelism and Outreach In 136 years, Mt.
